Memorials to the Tamaqua Public Library are a wonderful way to secure a positive legacy of learning. Each month, we add the names of those who are being remembered via gifts to the library in the form of rose or book memorials.
Book Memorial
As one of its special services, the Tamaqua Public Library offers a unique way to create a lasting memorial to someone who has passed on. A donor may visit the library and make a contribution of at least $25 for a book to be presented to the library in the name of a friend or relative. A new book will be selected by the library staff and a bookplate incorporating the name of the donor and the person being remembered will be placed in the book. In addition, an acknowledgement card will be sent to the family of the person being remembered.
Book Honorariums
Book Honorariums can be purchased to honor an individual or a significant life event. As with book memorials, honorariums are recognized with an appropriate bookplate and an acknowledgment sent to a specified individual.
The minimum contribution for a book memorial or honorarium is $25.00. Specific books may be requested, although the library reserves the right to refuse such requests at our discretion.
Rose Memorials
The Memorial Rose Program is a service the Tamaqua Public Library provides to honor the memory of a friend of family member. If the request for a rose memorial is made in ample time prior to funeral arrangements, the library can arrange for the rose to be present at the time of services for the deceased. Otherwise, the rose can be sent to the home of a specified individual providing the address is local.
Donors requesting a rose memorial with the intent on having the rose at the funeral should supply the name of the deceased, the location of the funeral, and the time of the funeral or viewing. The rose will then be sent to the funeral home along with an acknowledgement card.
The cost of a rose memorial is $15.
Monetary Memorials
Memorial donations of $1,000 will be honored with a plaque placed in the library’s lobby.
